St Matthew’s is an inclusive and multicultural community, where each person is welcomed, valued and supported.
We provide a strong sense of wellbeing, belonging and security so that our students are given every opportunity to be affirmed in their dignity and worth and are assisted to grow to their true potential.
The Vision of the school acknowledges the importance of educating the whole person; intellectually, emotionally, spiritually, socially, physically, so that they may come to a deeper awareness of self, others and the environment. We endeavour to provide each student with a high quality, engaging and safe learning environment.
The school provides a curriculum that caters for and supports those students who may be having difficulties with learning due to a variety of reasons such as: disabilities, specific learning difficulties, developmental issues, social and emotional issues, English as a Second Language and giftedness. Those children who have been identified as having a disability or impairment, are new arrivals to Australia with little or no English or have arrived in Australia as refugees may be eligible for funding support.
“If children feel safe, they can take risks, ask questions, make mistakes, learn to trust, share their feelings and grow.”
– Alfie Kohn
